Bridge Challenge

This afternoon we had a STEAM challenge... to build a bridge that would hold up the Three Billy Goats Gruff.  We could use a piece of card, lego and sticks.

How can we make our bridges sturdy?

Watch out for the nasty troll!

More Ag Day Fun

There were all sorts of interesting characters who came to take part in Goodwood School's Ag Day this year.  These visitors seemed to enjoy watching the fun, but seemed a bit stuffed by all the action.

What clever scarecrow creations!  Do you know who created these cool scarecrows?

We loved meeting all of the stars of the show.  We are so proud of our classmates for bringing along their animals.

We had lots of fun creating and joining in with all sorts of Ag Day activities around the school.

Congratulations to all of the Ag Day participants.

Congratulations to the Primmer Family - third place in the scarecrow making competition

Cakes, cakes cakes and more cakes!
We helped each other to decorate the cakes
 Everything was so sweet

Rugby World Cup

Today we had a special surprise visit at school... the Webb Ellis Cup came to visit!  Ian Foster brought the trophy to show it to us.  He was the only person allowed to touch it.

Ornithologists

We have been visiting our Goodwood School forest as ornithologists.  We did a bird count.  We saw mostly sparrows and some piwakawaka.

We have noticed that there aren't many native birds in our school forest.  We noticed that our forest doesn't look like a healthy forest.  There are holes through the forest... we can see the paddock through it!

We wonder, how can we attract more native birds to our school forest? We have written to the Cambridge Tree Trust to ask if they can help us with finding plants for our forest.  They said yes!

Monday Week 6

  • During problem solving on amazing Maths Monday we had to use the blocks to discover how many blocks we needed so that
  • when we counted the blocks in 2's there was one block left over.
  • when we counted the blocks in 3's there was one block left over
  • when we counted  the blocks into 5's there was none left over.

We had to think really carefully and chat to our buddy so we could help each other.

We discovered it was 25 blocks!!

We are wondering how we can attract more birds to our forest? We wonder what birds we would like to have in the forest?
Maybe Tuis or Piwakawaka or Bellbirds? Could we have Tuatara in our forest?

We crept out really quietly to the forest! Shhhh! What birds can we see and hear? Some were nesting in a tree that kept their nest safe.

We think we might have to plant more trees with flowers and berries and then maybe the birds might come back.

Book Week - Read, Read, Read!

We have been reading so many books!

We are reading lots of books and creating book caterpillars to earn house points for our house teams.  Every time we read a book we get to add a link to our team caterpillar chain.

We sure do LOVE reading!
